About this competition
Maeil Shinmun (매일신문) is collecting true life stories (생활수기) from members of multicultural communities in Korea. Share happy, sad or special moments from your life here.
Suggested topics: adjusting to life in Korea, stories from cultural differences, multicultural family life and your hopes as a parent or child, visiting your home country or your partner's or parents' country, memorable experiences at work in Korea, and experiences at school.
Prizes: 44 winners and KRW 17 million in total. Grand prize KRW 3 million (Minister of Gender Equality and Family award). Three excellence prizes of KRW 1 million. Ten special selections of KRW 500,000. Thirty honorable mentions of KRW 200,000. Each comes with a plaque.
Winning works will be published in the 2026 collection 'People Who Came on a Rainbow' (무지개를 타고 온 사람들). Copied work, already published work, or false facts can lead to a prize being cancelled.

How to apply
- Write your story in Korean. One entry per person.
- Length: about 20 pages of 200-character manuscript paper, or about 3 A4 pages in 12-point font. Elementary and middle school students: about 12 manuscript pages or 2 A4 pages.
- You must use the official entry form (.hwpx file) attached to the notice.
- Email your entry to [email protected] by 6 November 2026.
